The following post is how we will proceed for the next 2 weeks until we return on September 10th All activities and practices are cancelled on campus until we return. An email will be sent out with a video recording providing our parents and students with information by 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. This video will inform all how and where they will log in to receive instruction and materials. This video will also be posted to our website. We will be doing live Zoom sessions with our students during normal school hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Your teachers will be sending your student invitations to join those meetings through Schoology and/or your emails. This will be a time where your student will receive live instruction and be able to engage in question/answer sessions. Teachers are available through phone calls, emails, or zooms Tuesday through Friday. It is important for your student to be checking their email accounts and Schoology routinely to stay updated on when assignments are due. Assignments will be taken for a grade. If it is not completed, it will be a zero. If you are having issues, you will need to communicate that with your teacher. If you are a family that does not currently have internet connectivity, we will be making calls tomorrow to provide options on how to best get your student information needed. We will have 7 locations around town where your student can connect their school devices. They are not currently active, but we will let you know as soon as they are available. They are located at the Farber library, South School, Bowling Alley, Beinhoff Funeral home, on the square across from Dr. Cole’s office, the Elementary west parking lot, and the high school parking lot by the library. We understand this is not an ideal situation for our students or staff. To make sure everyone is on the same page, we had a student with a positive test who is asymptomatic. With guidance from the health department, we had to contract trace all of the students and staff that could be potentially impacted, and that number was substantial enough, it was in our students and staff’ best interest to go virtual. We are here to assist in any way and look forward to September 10th when we get to be with our students again. Please feel free to call if you have any questions.

Don’t forget to bring your water bottles to school! Our water bottle filling stations were installed last week and have already gotten a lot of use on the first day. We will have some water bottles to give away soon for those who don’t have one.

The first day of school is tomorrow! Reminder that we have moved to a 4 day week so our bell schedule has changed and 1st period begins at 7:55 a.m. and the day ends at 3:40 p.m. Vo-Tech does not have classes in Mexico tomorrow so those students do not need to report to campus until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As students come to school tomorrow, they will report to their 1st period class. We will not gather in the gym. If they would like to eat breakfast, they can go to the cafeteria first and then on to their class. Remember to charge those iPads each night. We're looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Picture Day
This is message that was sent out today in an all call. Good morning! This is Mr. Hummel with an important message from Van-Far Elementary. Registration is underway. If you have not registered yet, please complete this process as soon as possible. Teacher assignments have been updated and noted in SIS. Review the SIS portal to see your child’s teacher. For questions about registration you can contact the office and they will be happy to assist you. There is $7 technology fee assigned to every student. You can log onto your SIS portal to pay this fee online. You can also pay lunch balances and will soon be able to pay library balances. There is a couple changes to transportation procedures due to COVID that I wanted to make sure you are aware of. The pick up and drop off address listed for transportation at the time of registration is the bus your child will be assigned to. You will no longer be able to call and request for your child to ride a different bus once school year begins. The only change made to your child’s daily transportation is for someone to pick them up. This will need to be called in to the office by 2:00 the day of, or you can send a written note with your child stating they will be picked up and who is picking them up. Anyone who has already completed registration and needing to update the registered address, please call our office by August 18. We encourage parents to transport their child if possible. We will hold open house on August 21. Students with last names A-L will attend from 3:00-5:00. Students with last names M-Z will attend from 5:00-7:00. If you have children with last names falling in both categories, you may come during either time frame. A mask is encouraged and we ask that you socially distance as much as possible. The first day of school is August 25. The school day is 7:55-3:40. Our office will be open Tuesday-Friday from 7:15-4:15. Please keep in mind that we are a 4 day school, with classes Tuesday-Friday most weeks. There are a few Monday throughout the year that we will be in session. A school calendar can be found on our webpage. We communicate in a number of ways throughout the school year. Make sure you like and follow The Van-Far School District on Facebook and Twitter, download our app, and check our website for news and information. If you have any questions, please call our office. Thank you for your time!
