Wednesday Announcements

DONKEY BASKETBALL:

  • Tomorrow, April 21 is the last day to purchase advance tickets for the donkey basketball game. Tickets may be purchased at the Elementary school office, the High School office and the United Credit Union and cost is $10 cash only - no checks accepted.  Tickets at the door are $12.  For more information contact a VFTA member.
  • Students that are participating in Donkey Basketball must fill out a permission form and be signed by a parent.  The forms will be at the office.  Forms must be turned in by Friday, April 22. 
  • Coins for Kisses -- During intermission of the Donkey basketball the winner of the Coins for Kisses will kiss a donkey.  Students are encouraged to bring change to school to place into a container of their choice.  The staff that are participating at the high school are Mr. Stuedle and Mr. Fortney.  There will be containers in front of the high school office.

STATE FFA CONVENTION: 

The Van-Far FFA would like to wish the following students/individual’s good luck as they compete and/or receive awards at the 94th Missouri State FFA Convention on Thursday and Friday.

JH GIRLS BASKETBALL:

  • Any 7th grade girl interested in basketball next year, will meet on Thursday, April 21 in Mrs. Minter’s room at 7:40 am. 
  • Any 7th grade girl interested in Basketball camp this summer there are forms on the office ledge.  The forms are due back May 6.  

SENIORS:

  • Please let the guidance office know of any college or outside scholarships you have been awarded, we want to recognize these at the awards ceremony on May 10.  You may email these to Mrs. Utterback or Mrs. Jones. 
  • If you've turned in an application for a VFTA scholarship, interviews will take place on Tuesday, April 26th and Wednesday, April 27th after school. The form to sign up for interview times is on the board across from the high school office. Please contact Mr. Stuedle or Mrs. Weiss with any questions. Thanks!

 PROM INFORMATION:

  • Reminder that the next Good Standing checkpoint ends on April 19th and impacts your ability to attend Prom.  
  • You MUST be in good standing and your class dues/library dues must be paid.  You can see Mrs. Cross or Mrs. Jones about your dues if you have any questions.  All overdue library books need to be returned or paid for before attending prom.
  • All Prom guests who are not attending VFHS must be pre-approved by their administrator.  Guest forms are available in the office and need to be turned in by April 22nd
  • ALL students and guests attending project prom will need to sign Waiver forms from the YMCA.  If you are under the age 18 you will need a parent signature. These forms can be picked up on the office ledge. THESE FORMS ARE DUE 4/26. 
  • There is a sign-up sheet outside of Mrs. Winders' room for prom.  Please sign up yourself and your guest.  There is also a sign-up list for prom songs. 

MACC will be holding an Open House on April 27 at their Mexico campus.  Tours for area high schools will be available from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and public tours from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  They will have a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:00 pm for their new Veterinary Technology course.  

The YMCA will be holding a Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 30th from 10 am to 2 pm.  Healthy Kids Day is a single day event celebrating youth development and is the kick-off to a healthy, happy summer for youth, families, and staff.
