Tuesday Announcements

One of our Van-Far Kindergarteners, Lillian Singer, was airlifted to St Louis Children’s hospital in January with stroke-like symptoms. They found that she had a Cavernoma, which is a cluster
of blood vessels on the brain. She has not been able to return to school yet and has been going to speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.  After a recent MRI they have decided that surgery is what is best for Lillian. We want to show Lillian and her family our love and support by wearing black and gold in support of our fellow Indian on Wednesday, March 2nd. Students may wear a hat on Wednesday with a $1 donation and are welcome to donate more if they wish.  Students will give their donation to the office when they arrive Wednesday morning and receive a sticker to wear.  Thank you so much for supporting this great family!

Sophomores through seniors, if you received an application for induction into the National Honor Society, I just want to remind you that the deadline is Tuesday, March 1st.  Please fill out your application and give it to Mrs. Winders.

NJHS meeting Wednesday, March 2nd at 7:20 am.   7th and 8th graders, if you have a 3.5 GPA, you will be receiving an application for induction Into the National Junior High Society. I would like the completed application if you are interested by March 15th.

The district paid ACT is scheduled for Tuesday, March 8th.  The test will begin at 8:00 am.

StuCo is sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive Thursday, March 3, from 2-6 PM in the high school cafeteria.  Please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter: VanFarHS to schedule an appointment. The Red Cross is experiencing the worst blood shortage in over a decade. If you need help looking for an appointment, please contact Mr. Rost crost@vf.k12.mo.us or call 573-594-6442. All StuCo members are required to work the blood drive.  Please see Mr. Rost. We are ten donors away from qualifying for a Red Cross scholarship.  Please help the students earn this money for college/future job training. If you are in high school and would like to donate, you must fill out a parental permission form located on the office ledge.

Vandalia Youth Ball Umpire applications are available from the office ledge.  Must be 15 years old to umpire.  Forms must be completed and returned to City Hall or Ramsey Dickerman’s State Farm office.

Vandalia Youth ball registration ends on March 18, 2022.  Forms and fees may be returned to State Farm office and to City Hall.
