School Flu Shots Available, if Interested…your elementary child will bring home flu shot forms tomorrow. Jr/Sr High School students may pick up forms at the office. These forms need to be returned prior to Thanksgiving break if you want your child to participate. The school flu shot clinic will be Thursday, December 2 beginning at 9:00. This is available for all students PK-12.
No Vo-tech classes on Monday, Nov. 22 and Tuesday, Nov. 23 due to Mexico being out of school for an extended Thanksgiving break.
Van-Far will be in session on Monday, Nov. 22 and Tues. Nov. 23. Thanksgiving break will be Wed. Nov. 24 thru Friday, Nov. 26.
We will NOT have a high school NHS meeting tomorrow, November 19th. Our next scheduled meeting is Thursday, December 16th at 7:20.
EVERYONE needs to clean out their locker in the Locker rooms over Thanksgiving break. The locker rooms will be cleaned and disinfected over break. Any clothes left in there will be donated to goodwill.
Also be sure to check the Lost and Found, if the item is yours take it, if not leave it. Anything left will be donated to goodwill.
High School Students planning on attending Winter Formal must have all their negative Fines/Fees, lunch account and class dues paid in full to attend.
Conference Choir students will need to come down to Ms. Rossmiller's room at 7:30 am on Thursday, Nov 18th to leave by 8:00 am for Silex.
You must register by Friday, November 19th for the December 11th ACT.
FCA game night at 730 Friday night in the high school gym. We will play games, have snacks, and do devotions. We will be done by 9:00 p.m.
Saturday Detention is this Saturday, November 20th from 8:00-11:00 a.m. Doors will lock at 8:00 a.m. so make sure you show up a few minutes early and bring something to work on or read. There are only so many dates available, so if you owe attendance time already, it would be a good idea to get some of your time made up this weekend. Sign up is on the bulletin board across from the office.
Juniors to go to winter formal you must have 20 dollars of your dues paid. Make sure to give this to Mrs. Cross.
WINTER FORMAL: December 4 from 7:00-10:00 PM at the Catholic hall. If you are bringing an out-of-district guest please get a form from Mr. Rost.
November 29th is the Fall Athletic Banquet. At 6:00 pm the catered meal will begin, coaches and athletes will eat free. Anyone else that would like to come can purchase a ticket at the office for $5.00. Tickets can be purchased now till Monday the 22nd.
NJHS will be doing a food drive. The boxes to collect the food will be up by the office. It will start November 4th and continue until November 19th. NJHS decided to do a competition between each class. There will be a box for 7th grade, 8th grade, Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Seniors. Bring canned goods and place them in the correct box. The winning class will get $20.
2021 Turkey Trot will be held at 7:30am at the YMCA on Thanksgiving Day. $25 registration includes a t-shirt. Last day to sign up to guarantee a long sleeve t-shirt is Friday, November 5th. Registration will be accepted through 7:15am on the morning of the event.
3rd Annual Diaper Drive to benefit local families is being held November 1 - 30th at the YMCA. Donations of diapers size 1-5, diaper rash cream, and baby wipes are being collected inside the Y. All donations are greatly appreciated and will be distributed to Van-Far Parents as Teachers, First Baptist Food Pantry and CMCA Early Head Start.
This next checkpoint from October 27th until November 30th impacts your ability to attend Winter Formal on December 4th. If you are on the watchlist or out of good standing, please keep that in mind if you are wanting to attend.
Students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade who would like to take the district paid ACT please sign up on the bulletin board across from the front office by Friday, November 19th. The ACT will be given on Tuesday, March 8th in the gym. Reminder: If you have already taken the district paid ACT once, you cannot take it again.
NHS seniors - NHS offers 600 scholarships for a total of 2 million dollars to active members of their NHS chapter. The deadline is December 1, 2021. See Mrs. Winders for more details.
